The Lake District

Image
Last we ek was spent in the Lake District. I didn't really know a lot abo ut it and still don't to be honest, but it was so tra nquile a nd relaxing there. The Lake District is where William Wordsworth (poet) and Beatrix Potter (children's author) lived. The towns were so cute and the sunset was to di e for! Look a t it! I took a picture and my camera did a pretty good job at capturing the beauty (my camera knows when we get back to the states he is history and is being replaced by a newer model). We also visited a walled city which was kind of fun. They all look the same to me(walled cities that is) but I'm not the most observant, so, don't ask me. But since Spring is here England is coming alive and their national flower might as well be a daffodil because they are everywhere! And so cute and dainty! I love daffodils! We visited Fountains Abbey where....I don't know, something of great importance happened...maybe not. But there was a lake and ruins an

The Nice-r side of Life

Bonjour! For the weekend of my 20th birthday I went to Nice France! In case you don't know which you probably do it is pronounced Niece as in the cute little girls your siblings have. =) I won't tell you a day to day recap but I'll give you the highlights. Nice is beautiful. It is on the coast of the Mediterranean sea and the coast is called the Cote D'Azur, which is an appropriate name because azur(blue) is what the water is. I mean it is REALLY blue! So dazzling. The specific area where we were was called the baie d'anges which means bay of angels.=) Here is the story: LONDON: So in the morning at 3am at the London Centre I woke up to shower and get ready. We catch a taxi to Marble Arch station where our bus was supposed to take us to the airport (could I take any more forms of transportation in one day?). Well, long story short, we chased the bus down the street literally running after it screaming because the bus stop was about 1/2 a mile away from where we thou

It's catch up day so more posts! Yay! I have discovered my new favorite place to visit in summer (even though it was Spring and I probably won't ever come back but that is beside the point):W *I*M*B*L*E*D*O*N* So, the Ibuprofen is kicking in so I'll explain this one to you. It is pretty interesting. For those of you who don't know Wimbledon used to be a private Tennis club. Then one day the roller used to press the grass down broke. They needed to raise money to fix it. They decided it might be fun to hold a tournament and have players pay to enter. Well, more players then expected signed up and they liked it so it kept going and became the spot for the world tennis tournament. Yay! Well, believe me, Wimbledon is a great place. It has fountains and flowers and huge tennis...uh...fields? yea. It is so awesome. I loved it. It made me wish I cou ld play tennis. =) P.S. You are probably wondering what Spiderman's leading lady has to do with tennis. Well, Kirsten Dunst,

Prime Time! Prime Meridian that is.

Do you want to know what time it is? 7:15pm (this will make more sense later) So it has been a light year since I last wrote...sorry, the plague was circulating in the London Centre and I caught it! On one of our day trips we visited Greenwich. Now, I could give you a short background of Greenwich and why it is important in case you don't know, but I won't (sorry, I get grumpy when I'm sick) so bear with me, it's the time keeper of the world ba sically. So we took a boat ride to Greenwich which was really fun since I've been on a boat on a river, umm.....NEVER!!!(I don't get out much) So we floated down the Thames river passed St. Paul's Cathedral, under a dozen bridges, two which I loved: London Bridge (it didn't fall, don't worry) and Tower Bridge which many people mistake for London Bridge. After a lovely boat ride we arrived in Greenwich. We spent some time shopping and exploring (wasn't a very exciting town) then went to the royal observator

Were you born in a barn?! These guys were.

This last week we took a trip to Stratford-upon-Avon. For those of you who don't know, this is the city where Shakespeare, his wife Anne Hathaway, and his mother Mary Arden all were born and lived. I was never much of a Shakespeare fan until I started taking the class here, but I really loved seeing these sites. It's history. But, as great as good old Shakey is, I think I enjoyed the animals more than anything. The first picture up there is of Dave the Robin. He lives at Anne Hathaway's cottage. He was the friendliest bird. The lady told us about him and he didn't run from her when she was inches from him. He was so cute and noisy! Loved him! Next, we see the cow. This was at Mary Arden's farm. He was plastic, yea, but still a cow and still pretty fun. We all decided since there weren't any frogs to kiss, he would do. Let's name him Melvin. P.S. In case you were curious I don't usually do kissy pictures because the person with the camera ALWAYS makes the
